in rain world, theres things called 'iterators' made to solve problems(keep in mind these existed in the game since march 2017.) just like sometihng ELSE right??? (ai.) and ai consume large amounts of water, JUST LIKE ITERATORS DO! except iterators use water to breathe.

sam altman , ceo of open ai has agreed to deploy some ai models in the pentagon

to add another example , 1968 film 2001 : a space odyssey has an ai named h.a.l , an ai that never makes mistakes , two humans suspect that the ai did make a mistake. after an attempt to shut it down , the ai tries to outright kill them

a series of tests in recent years have shown that the ai is willing to harm individuals if the ai is threatened to be shut down

ai and their subsequent actions and uses have been predicted years ago , before rain world. ai and water consumption comes from the fact that it needs to cool down , which is also human behavior funnily enough.

ive never played rain world , but id presume they just analyzed human behavior to think and solve problems and said "ok but what if they essentially functioned like fishes".
