a multitude of reasons:
- Bopimo is niche in terms of how popular it is and as a concept.
- Bopimo isn't a game you need to play for hours really unlike other UGC platforms like Roblox.
- Bopimo's client is a desktop only experience and even then it doesn't operate on MacOS.
- Bopimo is still a new platform in terms of how old other platforms are.
- Bopimo targets a niche audience instead of a mainstream audience.
- Not many people make Bopimo content on platforms like YouTube, Instagram etc. The amazing people who do (excuse me) but aren't famous content creators meaning less new people get drawn in.
- Bopimo's current audience is mainly adults and older teens, meaning they don't play as much for long periods due to work, education etc.
- Domasophobia is illegal on Bopimo, leading to a large number o players quitting.
now here's the interesting part: The popular Roblox YouTuber Laughability made a video that included Bopimo, and the platform saw an increase in users and players, but:
- The platform was labelled as a Roblox Alternative when even though it includes Roblox elements and takes clear inspiration, isn't the main focus, and people who want to find a platform like Roblox would of been disappointed.
- Adding onto point 1, Bopimo isn't really like Roblox at all. You can't code a game (level) like you can in Roblox since Bopimo is more like Super Mario Maker 3D + Roblox esc website and elements. People from Laughability's video would of looked at the site, thought it was trying to be a Roblox alternative, signed up, downloaded the client and then realised over time that it is trying to be it's own thing. This is further proven by the fact that Polytoria is hot right now, because it parallels Roblox and that's what it's meant to be.
- The platform wasn't labelled correctly and fairly, being under the term of a 'Roblox ripoff' set people's expectations of Bopimo in a way which is different from the real experience.
