Will the tokens ever do anything?

The coins (gotten from the game, not website) do nothing and they don't even add up to my coin count on the website (makes sense tbh).

Maybe the game could track how many I get to showcase alongside the best time, folks who like collectathons would get all of them trust me. Maybe if I get 100 of them I get an extra life in games that use lives. Maybe there's an in-game shop set-up by the developer where I can spend the tokens I got in exchange for a helpful item?

Right now they kind of exist. I've had the brilliant idea of hiding a coin in a heart mesh and it doesn't add up to the counter, but it heals the player by a small margin and respawns immediately after pick up. Don't think that's exactly their intended use, but otherwise I can't think of anything that makes them worthwhile. Maybe to clearly indicate where the player is supposed to go? but that's it...

giving the token counter a function in levels would be a good feature but tokens respawn based on a timer rather than on character respawn or level reset (i.e. tokens can be infinitely farmed by waiting if the timer is low or require you to rejoin the level to make them respawn if the timer is extremely long) so they kind of need an overhaul before they can be more than a health pickup

Theres an unused block called token gate but it currently doesn't do anything and doesn't have any appearance, when it's finished I think it'll more or less just be a door that requires you to have a certain amount of tokens to enter. You can create a makeshift version of it using roses though https://www.bopimo.com/forums/thread/3273

Also I think a tester mentioned once that moons(basically just star coins) might become an actual feature of the game and site at some point in the future, I may be misremembering that though. While they're not tokens they might still appeal to collectathon players in the same way

You can heal by using a rose or magma block and setting the Damage Amount to a negative value btw, just in case the sound of the token is annoying

Just add a toggle that makes it so a token is only collected client-side and only respawns if you restart the level
