I just wanted to speak out and ask, who came up with the idea to represent Christmas with X-mas? That wasn't my idea, be assured. I only found this out a couple centuries ago, and by then it was already cemented as a phrase.

its because when they were on the topic of eggs in easter when naming holidays they made christmas EGGS-mas

Another question is why do we pronounce Christ as Christ but Christmas as Christmas
