I've done that a few times. The launcher always says "cannot launch without protocol" after it finishes installing.

go into offline mode then back into online mode (thats what made it work for me)

just start up the bopimo client's executable. it lets you build levels and stuff offline but starting it up and closing it before joining a level on the site also seems to fix stuff sometimes

i cant install the bopimo client tho. the launcher won't install it.
