I usually just quick respawn (non hold) first then while in air , quick respawn ( hold ) to get it to reset.
but yeah, would be nice if it stopped starting ahead

So this happens because of server client desync. When you respawn the timer resets istantly on your client, even though your position hasnt updated server side. When your position is reset back to spawn it noticed you had moved and it assumes the speedrun has started, so it starts the timer to prevent movement without the timer running.
